Ever since the notorious selector Kaya exchanged the Ionyouth crew for his own project, he has been a force in the roots scene to reckon with. Over the years, Jahmbassador Hi-Fi (founded in 2008 by Kaya and Fayaman) built a strong reputation for its unmatched selection and dubplates, roaring sound and tireless advocacy for the rasta message. If you go to a Jahmbassador session you’re being educated and prepared to internalize that message. We met Kaya and his companion, singer Marijah, the day after a private under-the-radar session that left its audience in awe. We had a chat about their motivation and personal relation to the music.
