So, if you're looking for a pair of back up iron sights for your rifle, I highly recommend you take a look at the Magpul MBUS sights. To me, they are without question the best option that's out there right now, and in this review, I'm gonna give you my top 5 reasons why the Magpul MBUS are the best flip up sights for the money. So here they are. Reason 1, these sights are durable. Look, I haven't done anything like a torture test with these, but I have used them for several years now, and after owning many pairs of these sights, I've never had any issues with them. I haven't noticed any cracking. The springs are still strong, and all the adjustments continue to work properly. So I think they're pretty durable, and they're a good fit for my needs as a civilian gun owner. Reason 2, they're easy to adjust. I did buy a cheap pair of sights on Amazon because I was thinking that since they're just back up sights, I might be able to get away with saving a little bit of money on them. But I found out a couple things. First, the cheap sights, especially the front post, are very difficult to adjust. And second, the adjustments don't go far enough. I put those sights on three different rifles, and I couldn't zero a single one because I had maxed out the adjustment and I couldn't get the front sight to go low enough. I've never had any problems like that with the Magpuls. The front sight has always adjusted exactly where I need it to, and it's also easy to adjust the elevation because you get this little tool included. Now aside from all that, the rear sight just has a simple knob on the side to adjust for windage. And like I said, I haven't had any problems dialing in these sights on any gun I've put them on. Reason 3, they give a great sight picture. Even though I prefer to shoot with optics, I do enjoy shooting with these sights. They just make it easy to pick up a sight picture, and I find them pretty intuitive to aim. And a cool feature on the MBUS sights is that you actually have 2 apertures. You have the small one which gives you a fairly precise sight picture when you need it, but if you fold it down, you get a larger ghost ring type sight, that might be a little quicker for you at close ranges. Personally, I just keep it on the smaller aperture because I like the precision, and like I mentioned before, it's pretty easy to pick up a sight picture. Reason 4, they're easy to install. So if you're rifle has a fixed front sight, then obviously all you need is the rear sight. But if you don't have that then you're gonna need to get the pair. Now, to install them all you need to do is back out the screw from the nut on the other side. Then just slide them on the rail, line up the hole with one of the slots in the rail, put the screw through and tighten it down. It's really easy to do, and the screw does come with some threadlocker already on them. So once you lock them down, they'll stay put. Reason 5, these sights are affordable. Here's the deal, you can find a lot of cheaper options than the Magpuls. But you need to ask yourself... Are they gonna hold up? Are they going to adjust properly? They might, but with the cheap ones I bought, that ended up not being the case. They won't zero on any of my guns. So even though they were only like 20 dollars, they ended up being a waste of money. Now, on the other end of the spectrum, there are many options that cost a lot more than the Magpuls. They're really high quality, but my problem with these is that it just seems like overkill to spend 200 dollars on a set of sights that are just back ups. So that brings me back to the MBUS which come in FDE, black, gray, OD green, and right now, come in at a reasonable price. So all in all, I like these Magpuls because you get a durable set of sights, they're easy to adjust and install, you get a great sight picture, and they won't set you back too much money. ----------------- Disclaimer: All content from Red Dot Shooters is for entertainment purposes only.
