Friendly Hands' Summer Holiday by Shooting Star Chase

We're so pleased to present our sixth installment of Deborah Green, speech and language therapist and makaton tutor working with Sarah Hodkinson, music therapist at Shooting Star Chase, to teach makaton to staff and children. This is how we learn different signs using Deborah's expert and wonderful method of learning signs through song. This month our theme is 'Holidays'. Our song, 'Summer Holiday' is filmed in Sparkle Day Care at Shooting Star House, starring our speech and language therapist volunteer, therapists, nurses, nursery nurses, health care assistants, our head or house, three children of Shooting Star Chase and one of our maintenance team sharing his swimming skills!) Each month Deborah plans and teaches the signs and staff get together to learn these and to make a video using fun themes and useful vocabulary. This helps the children at Shooting Star Chase to develop their communication skills, using signs and symbols to support their speech.
