Step 21 of my 1996 Honda Accord timing belt and water pump replacement series. In this video, I reinstall the engine mount, install the drive belt for the AC compressor and alternator, and reconnect the alternator wiring harness. In this step I: Reinstall the engine mount and secure the engine to it using three fasteners, all torqued to 47 lb-ft Tighten the front-facing engine mount nut first to ensure proper alignment Install the alternator/AC drive belt by feeding it in from the bottom, which made it easier to clear the tight space between the AC compressor and the body Twist the belt sideways to work it through the limited clearance Lower the alternator further to help get the belt into place Set belt deflection to approximately 3/8 inch (noting that specs differ for new vs used belts, with new belts requiring slightly more tension) Tighten the lower alternator mounting bolt to 16 lb-ft, followed by the upper mounting bolt at 32 lb-ft Move the power steering pump closer to its final position Reattach the alternator wiring harness, routing it over the top of the upper timing belt cover, securing it to the engine with a fastener, and then connecting it at the alternator Secure the harness using the zip-clip style retainer over the alternator Tighten the alternator power wire fastener to 6 lb-ft Connect the second alternator wire using the push-in clip, aligning the green tab with the hole in the alternator This is part of a slow, detailed DIY series where each step is recorded individually so anyone can follow along at their own pace. In the next video, I move on to installing the power steering pump belt and continue reassembly. This is not meant to replace a factory service manual. Always follow proper safety procedures and verify specs for your specific vehicle. #HondaAccord #AccordTimingBelt #HondaDIY #F22B1 #EngineMount #DriveBelt #AlternatorBelt #SerpentineBelt #MechanicDIY #CarRepairDIY
