Erie County has now been elevated to a Level 2 snow emergency as of 6:25 a.m. as we track another round of wintry weather with accumulating snow in Northeast Ohio. After being under a Level 1 for about an hour early Friday morning, the Erie County Sheriff's Office escalated to a Level 2 "due to black ice on the roadways caused from freezing mist." "Road crews are out, however, please use extreme caution if you must travel this morning," according to a Facebook post from the sheriff's office. Their Facebook post also includes an image with the following caption: "Roadways are hazardous due to blowing and driving snow and/or ice. Only those who believe it is necessary to drive should be on the roadways." Huron County, meanwhile, activated a Level 1 snow emergency at 7 a.m. "Motorists are urged to drive cautiously," according to a Facebook post from the Huron County Sheriff's Office.
