Step by step tutorial on how to remove your starter. Please make sure your battery is disconnected before starting this! Please not that I am only a hobbyist; not a mechanic! Tools needed: 13mm wrench or socket, 15mm wrench or socket, ratchet + approx 5 inch extension + 10mm allen socket. This applies to the Porsche 911 SC (1978-1983) although the process is probably similar for 1976 - 1986 models outfitted with the 915 gearbox. I was told that the process changes and that a possible engine drop is required for vehicles with the G50 transmission (1987-1989).
