Audio and video production: Michael Ibsen Guitar by Steven den Toom ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "The legendary Kunstlied Cycle "Dichterliebe", written by Robert Schumann, is considered to be one of the greatest works that the romantic era of kunstlied has to offer. One of the more known songs from this cycle is the dark and sorrowful 'Hör ich das Liedchen klingen'. The melancholy of this work and its painful mood describes the angst of a lost soul searching for his beloved. He hears the song she has sung and shudders in tears about his tragic loss. Robert and Clara Schumann had a very difficult relationship together, and the very emotional persona of Schumann manifests in this song, as we hear his deepest fear of losing her. The work itself is written in G-Minor and this transcription is in the same key. Keeping the original key while playing it on guitar and using the potential of the instrument to its fullest was the main focuses of this arrangement, which was a joy to make." About the Artist: Filip Alilovic (born 1989) is a Croatian classical guitarist, music teacher, and composer, living in Dortmund/Germany. As a child of Croatian emigrants, he came into contact with the music of his country of origin and "Western" music at an early age. After an early musical education, he received private lessons in Dortmund and continued his guitar training with Prof. Frank Gerstmeier, which he completed in 2011. He received his compositional and music theory training from several lecturers, including Reinhard Michel and Professor Werner Seiss. In his younger years, Alilovic’s stage program consisted mainly of his own works. A number of sponsoring associations and cultural organizations have promoted his artistic work and educational path. As well as guitar, he composes for a range of ensembles and instruments. His writing style is characterized by the lively mix of older and modern composition techniques. He has also arranged, for the classical guitar, works by other composers, including the famous Toccata and Fugue by J.S Bach and the string sextet concerto "Souvenir De Florence" written by Pjotr Iljitsch Tschaikovsky. Collaborating with several artists all around the globe he teaches and lives in Dortmund.
