Kirk Reddie devoted much of his life to N scale, as editor of the magazine "N Scale Railroading" and as the creator of one of the largest and geographically ambitious model railroads in the world. The layout was planned to faithfully model the railroads in the entire Pacific Northest part of the US. This video is a summary of how far Kirk and his friends progressed in building his dream train layout, before Kirk unexpectedly passed away in 2024. Gordon Kennedy gives an overview tour of the completed parts of the layout including accurate passenger station models, and then Burr Stewart shows a variety of trains in action on the double-track mainline between Seattle and Portland, as well as the working model of the Great Northern's Salmon Bay bridge. The video concludes with an overview of the areas of the layout that were still under construction. Kirk was a voracious researcher of railroad history, and his model trains were based on real places and operations in the early 1950's. For more information about modeling the railroads of the US "Pacific Northwest," the Great Northern Railway Historical Society is at https://gnrhs.org and the Northern Pacific Historical Association is at https://nprha.org . The Milwaukee Road Historical Association is at https;//mrha.com . All of these volunteer organizations are terrific resources for modeling Pacific Northwest trains in earlier eras.
