WELCOME TO ORANGUTAN BABY SCHOOL! The team at IAR Indonesia do everything they can to ensure the rescued orangutans at the centre receive all the love and expert care they need to recover. Every single one of them has their own story of survival. Some have witnessed the destruction of their forest homes, others have been poached from the wild and forced into captivity. Every rescue story is different and each individual requires personalised round the clock care. The ultimate goal is to one day return them to their forest home, but they first need to learn the essential skills needed to survive in the wild. Orangutans of between the ages of two and four are taken to our baby school, where they learn the basics of climbing and foraging, and are encouraged to hone in on their natural instincts. However, they are still babies, and just like humans, they definitely enjoy some fun antics along the way!
