"Seventh Star" was initially intended to be Tony Iommi's solo record, after the band imploded with Ian Gillan's departure to rejoin Deep Purple in 1984. Under the pressure from the management and publishing rights, the album was issued under the name Black Sabbath (feat. Tony Iommi). Iommi now being the only original Sabbath member, he recruited different musicians for the session. Following the Deep Purple connected pattern, another former Purple singer was brought in, Glenn Hughes. Hughes was going through a dark period at the time, which resulted him leaving the band only after five shows on the US tour supporting the album.
