great new videos, giveaways and more at www.song-bike.com ! www.facebook.com/mysongbike There's a great instruction book for beginners called Hal Leonard Guitar Method Book 1. I use it with lots of my students. The songs are the usual collection of melodies: folk and classical songs. But once you play a page you may never be inspired to play it again. With a little extra work, we can make the songs sound a LOT more professional, musical, and fun! In this video we take one of the songs from the book and expand upon it, using the "chord-melody" approach. If you've worked with this book before, you'll find it easy to learn my tabbed arrangement. And even if you don't have the book, I hope you like playing a classic in an easy way that sounds more difficult than it is!! (But don't tell your family that.) DISCLAIMER: this video teaches the first line of the 4-line song. Check out my Part 2 video for the complete song (it will be easy if you've already worked through this video!) ** It IS important to finger the G chord with your 2nd, 3rd and 4th fingers. I can't emphasize that enough. Not for every song, but for many, including this one. ** It's also vital to have a light touch with your pick for this song. If you squeeze the pick too tightly your guitar tone will be twangy and abrasive. The melody note may well get lost amidst the jangling chord. Lighten up on your pick grip. The more you play, the sooner you'll find the "sweet spot," holding the pick just barely tight enough that you don't drop it. Then squeeze it a LITTLE tighter when you want a note to pop out a little. Whew. I think that's everything I wanted to say. I'm a licensed retailer in Connecticut and I can sell you this book ! Email me at: kehewj @ gmail.com, *The book does NOT have tab. That's where my videos can help !!!!! Please LIKE and SUBSCRIBE ! My YouTube channel is: jkehew1.
