Exploring an old Florida ghost town railroad line, once part of the Atlantic Coast Railroad Line here during the early days once part of an old town called Richloam. Florida has hundreds if not thousands of ghost towns many of which are lost or built over. Some of the traces from the towns though can still be seen in some of these wild spaces today though search hard enough. The railroad here connected several communities along the way during the 1800's and early 1900's. Trains delivered goods and people along with logs to nearby sawmills. The towns sprung up from the logging, turpentine and various mining operations throughout these places just to name a few of the industries here. Today it is reclaimed by nature and surrounded by scenic Cypress swamps, rivers and creeks. It's very peaceful in a once busy place but you can still sense and discover the past hiking through here where you can experience a part of old Florida. These places today are important to keep preserved as they are critical to wildlife and the ecosystems. Preserving the history and being able to have future generations to learn about is important as well. So take a journey with me into the wild parts of Florida and let's take in the nature and history along the way.... Thank you for watching and enjoy the adventure!
