Here is a fun Q&A with Sandra Santos, the school director. ➡Caldas da Rainha was founded in 1484 when Queen Dona Leonor, the wife of King Dom Joao II, walked past a group of peasants while on her way to the Monastery of Batalha. Watching them bathe in the area's hot, swampy, and foul smelling waters, she decided to join them after being told that it was capable of healing diseases. Immediately, a wound that had been afflicting her for most of her life was healed.
