If you’re looking for a something something to cover the lens in case you think you might scratch or break them? AND you want to make your iPhone camera lenses stand out a bit? Then you should check out Rhinoshield 9H Tempered Glass Lens Protectors. Compared to the Spigen’s camera lens protector, you’ll actually get some decent scratch protection. If you can keep them on your iPhone. If you’re looking to get your own set of Camera Len's Protectors for your Apple Watch, use this link to save you a bit of money: https://mreh.ca/Rhinoshield In this review, I’m going to talk about the design of the product, the protection it might offer your camera lens and then do a quick photo quality comparison with the protectors on and off my iPhone. At MREH, Monty and I base all our reviews on actual usage. I’m not sure what else to say, we get stuff, we use stuff, we rank stuff, we make video stuff. Installation of these lens protectors is simple. Clean your lenses, peel the back off the protector and stick it on. Now the adhesive isn’t as strong as I think it should be as these lenses will fall off depending on how you store your iPhone on your person. I think Val lost all the ones on her iPhone. I still have all three of mine so it is a possibility that you will lose them which is annoying given that each lens cover is 5 bucks. There are two parts to this product, you have the glass which sits in an anodized aluminum ring. Now the size of the actual glass isn’t the same size as the aluminum ring. The glass is centered on the ring with a green adhesive and its actual pretty hard to separate the two. And if you try really hard, you could dent the aluminum ring. With a screw driver if you so please. My finger nails did nothing. When it comes to protection, the marketing fluff says that it has 9H hardness, it’s anti-scratch and it keeps out dust & water. It keeps out dust & water from what? Nothing like protecting something that’s sealed and waterproof from dust and water. And remember, the product doesn’t encase each camera lens, it sits on a top of a solid piece of sapphire like glass. When it comes to scratch protection, Rhinoshield says it’s of 9H hardness. I managed to scratch it with my 8H Mohs pick. WHICH is better than the 6-7 for the Spigen GlasTr. 6-7 is also the standard for most screen protectors. Now despite that nugget of good news, I still managed to scratch it during everyday usage. And if you were wondering, the aluminum rings will scratch between 2 and 3. The last thing I’ll mention before moving onto the photo comparison is that the lenses are coated with an oleophobic coating that will minimize fingerprinting/face grease so it’ll keep your photos crisp. When it comes to photo quality, there is noticeable difference between the photos taken with a bare camera and covered camera. Will the difference have an impact for most people? Probably not. Again, there is a layer of adhesive between the lens and the protector and that layer of adhesive will add a small anomalies to your photos when shooting directly into light. For example, there is a small amount of lens flare on this photo with the lens protector on it. Shooting directly into the sun also results in a tiny increase in lens flaring. Normal photos, from what we can tell, didn’t have any noticeable differences. And if you’re wondering, this is what a video of Monty looks like with the cracked camera lens protector. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Subscribe to stay in the loop!
