Learn about the Bespoke Unit Cigar Formula: https://bespokeunit.com/cigars/formula/ Video Summary: 00:00 Introduction The Montecristo Petit Edmundo was reviewed using the Bespoke Unit Cigar Formula, a quantifiable review matrix. Furthermore, the cigars were manufactured in August 2017 and then aged for two years with 65% Boveda packs. 00:32 Cigar Overview The spring can be inconsistent depending on the cigar. While some are soft, others can be quite firm. These soft spots can cause burn issues, which will be addressed later in the review. The wrapper's sheen is dull while it has a nice cocoa brown colour. There are some visible veins. 01:17 Prelight The draw is nice and a little on the loose end. The prelight flavour consists of fig, earth, and cocoa. Meanwhile, the aromas on the nose feature earth, fig, and barnyard. 02:00 First Third Notes The burn line starts off a little bit uneven. It features flavours of bitter chocolate, cedar, and subtle, floral notes, especially on the retrohale. 02:32 Overall Experience The packaging consists of a classic wooden box with embossed logos as well as the certification on the sides. It has a metal latch, which, when opened, reveals the cigars and a logo on the underside of the lid. The bottom of the box features the boxing date. The band has a nice gold inlay and a classic appearance. 03:36 Construction While some cigars have had issues, the one reviewed here produces an excellent stack with a burn line that has evened itself out. The draw has been ideal on this occasion but it can occasionally have problems. Take care when approaching the nub as it can quickly heat up but the temperature is generally smooth. 04:09 Second Third Notes The second third is smoother and has evolved in flavour and fullness. Expect cocoa but without the dark bitter chocolate. It has deep cedar flavours and some floral notes but mainly salty brininess on the retrohale. 04:58 Final Third Notes The final third features earthy tone, cedar, and a hint of floralness with brine on the retrohale. The body and strength continue to remain in the medium - medium-plus range. Overall, a very smooth and enjoyable cigar. 05:36 Pairings Consider the Petit Edmundo as an evening smoke for after dinner. It would go well after red meat or red-sauced pasta. Drink pairings like single malt Scotch whisky or rum would be good choices. 06:24 Conclusions An overall 40-minute cigar, it offers excellent value for money given its price point. While it may have some construction issues, it provides pleasant and approachable flavours that aren't bland nor too complex. Therefore, it's a great choice for smokers of any level of experience.
