I took my brand new 16' foot Prospector @SwiftCanoeKayak to Algonquin Park for a quick solo trip from Tim River Access Point #2 to Rosebary Lake. It was just what the doctor ordered - was supposed to meet up with @DerekSOutdoors for some fly fishing, but I had to head out early due to some gear failures and heavy cold rains. This is a part of the park that I will be returning too. Hope you enjoy this NOT SO EPIC video folks!! cheers, Alright here WE are at the 120m portage. The only portage, minus a few upcoming beaver dams - it's been great so far, but this next part is what I have been looking forward to for months! Loving our new canoe and It will be the lightest load to carry -- LETS GO! Decided to take a last minute solo trip into Algonquin Park - Tim River Access point #2 in Kearney Ontario and paddled up the Tim River and did a solo camp on Ranger Cabin area on Rosebary Lake. What a breathtaking world class canoe trip in Northern Ontario. Hope you enjoy it! It wasn't long before I hit the 2nd beaver dam. With the new canoe, being alone, and cold water, I decided to take a safe way... luckily it was very easy to get across and start paddling down the river again. It wasn't much longer till I heard rushing water once again SO hit the next dam -- and found a grooved out area to pull across easily! Here we are at camp. I had to pull off as there were strong winds & decent waves tossing me around.. PLUS I was getting pretty hungry after 5.5 hours of paddling with a headwind. First thing I did was fill my gravity filter to rehydrate, I owned a mini MSR ceramic filter for 20 years so I was looking forward to testing this new one out. Obviously it is lighter and filters water very efficiently. Although I missed the work out of the OLD MSR pump lol I quickly set up my tent and grab some firewood to get the fire going for a big supper MOOSE MEAT AND GARLIC BUTTER RICE - I slow cooked the meat over coals with garlic spices and Old Bay - supper and dessert After a long day and a full belly of that delicious moose meat, it's time for me to pack my bear bag for the night and get it hung up in a tall tree that I found while exploring. I like to put mine up at least 100ft from my camp and higher than a bear's reach So I am just going to tie a quick figure 8 knot, and use my carabiner to clip it to my waterproof bag so it's ready to pull up! There you have IT ! Well that was a big day -- I'm going to relax by the fire and call it a night! PART 2 WILL BE RETURN TRIP IN HEAVY COLD RAINS BUT WAS REWARD WITH SOME GREAT WILDLIFE WATCHING!
