Many Christians quietly wrestle with a troubling question: what if I’m not really saved? In this sermon from 1 John 3:19–24, Pastor Jason explores how believers can find real assurance when doubt creeps into their hearts. The apostle John teaches that the Holy Spirit produces three signs in a Christian’s life—faith in Jesus, growing holiness, and love for other believers. When those things feel weak, it’s easy for our hearts to condemn us. But the good news of the Gospel is that our assurance does not come from convincing ourselves or trying harder—it comes from bringing our doubts, sins, and fears to the God who knows everything and still forgives sinners. Ultimately, the path to assurance is not found in personal performance but in weak dependence on Christ and the transforming work of the Holy Spirit. When we bring our condemning hearts to God and cling to the cross, we discover that true confidence before Him grows out of grace.
