This is an easy compost pile in our garden where we compost kitchen scraps and root masses from our microgreen trays. Outdoor compost doesn't get as hot in the winter and is a great way to expand worm compost in the winter. This compost is primarily broken down by worms native to our soil. Even though we have had plenty of cold weather, the compost itself remains warm enough to host the worms. You CAN compost outside in the winter in Massachusetts.
