Zaharoff Signature Noir review – woody, soft spicy, and surprisingly quiet for a scent called “Noir.” If you’ve ever wondered whether this flanker is worth it, I’ve got some honest first impressions for you. Welcome back to The InScentive Collection. I’m your host, Brandon, and today I’m testing Zaharoff Signature Noir from the passenger seat because the sun was absolutely cooking the other side of the car. Autofocus gave me zero love, but we got it into the spirit: a couple of sprays on the back of the hand and a full wear test while we talk through what this actually smells like. On paper, Signature Noir is listed as woody, fresh spice, aromatic, amber, warm spice, citrus, sweet, soft spice. On skin, what hits me first is a very strong, almost astringent cypress paired with myrrh. It comes across natural and tamed, but it doesn’t hook me in the opening the way I’d expect from something with “Noir” in the name. 00:00 – Intro & why I’m testing Signature Noir in the car 00:45 – Bottle talk, autofocus struggles & setup in the passenger seat 01:30 – First sprays: getting Zaharoff Signature Noir “into the spirit” 02:15 – Opening impressions: woody, fresh spice, aromatic & amber 03:10 – Full note breakdown: basil, pink pepper, cypress, myrrh & more 04:30 – What I get on skin: myrrh, cypress, and missing citrus top 05:40 – Drydown shift: Australian sandalwood and “fresh sawdust” vibe 06:40 – Projection & presence: quiet, close to the chest, non-offensive 07:40 – Does it feel like “Noir”? Missed opportunity for something darker 08:30 – Who might like this and who should probably skip it 09:20 – Final thoughts, YouTube recommendations & outro Note Breakdown (from the script) Top Notes • Basil • Pink pepper • Coriander • Mandarin orange • Bergamot Heart Notes • Cypress • Ginger • Balsam fir • Virginia cedar • Anise • Freesia Base Notes • Myrrh • Australian sandalwood • Amber • Tonka bean • Agarwood (oud) Early on, the scent feels like myrrh + cypress, and that combo doesn’t really resonate with me. I barely get any of the citrus (mandarin, bergamot) that could have made the opening more inviting. Projection also feels pretty light; even after an extra spray, it sits close and doesn’t do a lot of talking. As it dries down, things improve. The Australian sandalwood comes forward as a dry, sawdust-like wood—less creamy, more “freshly cut lumber in a shop.” The cypress recedes, the base starts to show, and the whole fragrance calms into something more pleasant, simple, and inoffensive. By the mid and drydown I’d call it “okay” rather than bad, just basic and understated. If you’re looking for: Something natural, tame, and close to the chest A quiet woody scent with myrrh and cypress, no loud sweetness A fragrance that will almost never offend anyone …Signature Noir might fit. If you want a dark, mysterious, bold “noir” scent that grabs attention, this probably won’t be it. Let me know in the comments: Have you tried Zaharoff Signature Noir?
