In this episode: Sea Glass, Volcanic Rock + Quartz Jars I am lucky enough to live near an amazing beach which i noticed is covered in multi coloured sea glass, quartz crystals and volcanic rock! It wasn't until I'd completed the jars that I found out there is a beach called Playa de los Crystales, made entirely of sea glass only an hour away from me! it would have made the collection of the glass a lot easier! As it was I collected glass and rock over 6 days, spending up to three hours per day digging in the sand! The aim of these jars is simple: The glass starts as rubbish, trash. Bottles and jars smash on the sea shore and are carried thousands of miles along the shores of every land mass in the world, getting bashed and broken further, being rounded down and turned into something truly beautiful. The storms these pieces of glorified silica go through turn them into art, and so you are art. Everything you go through makes you more beautiful and more worthy. The volcanic rock starts its life as star dust, forged into the core of the planet, dormant for billions of years, until it erupts with the power of a thousand nuclear bombs, raining down across the surface of the world, forming the land we now live on. Even the most pressure and the most destruction can pave the way for new life and new beginnings. Finally, the Quartz. These quartz rock pieces formed the land mass that i now call home, but over millennia, as the ocean pounded the shoe, piece by piece they were flung into the sea until they were brought to shore and now form some of the most beautiful beaches I've ever seen. Situation and circumstance can tear you away from everything you know, and you may question your place in life, but have faith that you will find new meaning in a new form, and make something incredible.
