Sulpizio Cardiovascular Center at UC San Diego Health has marked many firsts in the ten years since its completion in 2011. This includes the first hybrid operating room with a built-in cath lab in the region to the first robotically assisted coronary stent procedure on West Coast. Sulpizio Cardiovascular Center now houses the largest robot-assisted angioplasty program in world and we train people from across the globe, according to Dr. Ehtisham Mahmud, executive director of medicine at UC San Diego Health's Cardiovascular Institute.
