Arlington Public Schools have a goal for only 75 percent of teachers and staff to drive alone to work by 2021. That would mean that 1 in 4 find some other way to get to school, like carpooling, the bus, the Metro, biking, walking, or scootering. And while 75 percent still means a lot of cars on the roads in Virginia and the Washington DC region, APS has already knocked that percentage down 5 percent in just the last three years, largely through partnership with the county's Arlington Transportation Partners program. This video in our series, The Switch, highlights Arlington's first-in-the-nation teachers and staff commuting program.
