Travel Rod Selection | Testing Shimano's travel rods with Bomber Farrell

Bomber Farrell has been testing out Shimano's latest travel rod range, including multi-piece Zodias, Revolution R-Spec and Raider rods. ZODIAS TRAVEL: The Zodias Travel Series utilises the same Zodias Hi Power X Blanks, Carbon Monocoque Butt and Fuji Stainless Steel K Guides with Alconite + SiC Tip Inserts. Available in 7 baitcast and light spin options, in 4- and 5-piece configurations, this will suit all traveling anglers looking for a premium, sensitive and lightweight travel rod. REVOLUTION R-SPEC TRAVEL: This is a wide-ranging series, consisting of light, medium and heavy spin, baitcast, jig, bluewater troll rods — in effect, covering almost every fishing style in Australia! The new Revolution Travel series has a new cosmetic with all-new fittings and custom aluminium hoods. All models are upgraded to Fuji Alconite guides, ‘Soft Touch’ reel seats and hard-wearing custom-shaped EVA fore and butt grips. What’s more, these multi-piece rods feature a subtle ferruling system that you’d be hard pressed to pick. Utilising Shimano’s 30 Ton graphite, the Revolution series combines casting performance with incredible lifting and fish-fighting power. RAIDER TRAVEL: Raider Travel rods are built on high performance 30-36 ton Toray high modulus graphite blanks, with quality Fuji Aluoxide guides, custom reel seats and hard wearing, custom-shaped split EVA grips. The key to a good travel rod is the ferruling, and these are neat, and maintain the crispness of the high quality blanks. Whether you target bream, barra, snapper or spin the coast on your travels, there’s a Raider to suit.
