With the formation of the new government in Bangladesh, senior leader Nitai Roy Chowdhury was also sworn in as a minister. His inclusion in the 50-member cabinet is considered significant in terms of minority representation. The swearing-in ceremony took place in the South Plaza of the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban (Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban). President Mohammad Shahabuddin administered the oath of office to Prime Minister Tariq Rahman and his cabinet. Tariq Rahman was sworn in as the first Prime Minister that day, marking the BNP's return to power after nearly two decades.
