If I had seen near hole in ice, I would have been sure I was in some hidden camera and a diver would have put this fish in my hook! I was at sea looking for new perch spots and ended up in one of the inland bays where I went to fishing for pike. Perch ice fishing in these places has been lucrative in recent years and that is why I have focused on ice fishing in such places. Perch balance in the shallows catch zander and sometimes pike. I drilled across the bay and went to the middle to try where there was about 3 m of water. I have got pike here during open water, but I have not been ice fishing before. So at first I was sure the fish would be pike. The fish took 10 minutes to get up. As a line, I had a Unyl winter line 0.25 mm thick and the fish took it to the Manu balance lure. Rainbow fishing is also familiar and I have visited them in many places in Southern Finland to fish. I have only received rainbow trout from the sea in Åland and Sweden. So special that this fish came from an area where there is no rainbow trout farming at all and they are not planted there.
