In session 2, "Honoring and Suppporting Suicide Loss Survivors through TAPS," held on February 5, 2026, participants explored the TAPS model for long-term grief care; examined postvention as a vital component of suicide prevention; reviewed trauma-informed and grief-informed approaches for supporting survivors; and discussed safe, non-stigmatizing language and age-appropriate strategies for engaging children, teens, and families after a suicide death. The "Supporting Healing After Suicide for Service Members, Veterans, and their Families Learning Community," hosted by SAMHSA’s SMVF TA Center, provides practical tools and expert guidance to strengthen postvention responses, reduce risk among those bereaved by suicide, and build coordinated, community-based systems of care that promote healing, safety, and long-term resilience.
