For years, I faced the same problem: missing or damaged original parts. Many projects had to be put aside simply because the required part was impossible to find or too difficult to reproduce by hand 🛠️. Hand tools like drills, files, and rotary tools have their limits. Many restoration parts are small, mechanically precise, and critical to proper function. Even if a part can be made by hand, it’s rarely accurate enough — and in restoration, precision matters 🎯. I always knew that CNC machining was the solution, but it once felt complicated: unfamiliar software, complex workflows, and a steep learning curve. Carvera Air completely changed that 🌟. Why Carvera Air impresses: It’s not just a machine — it’s a complete learning system 📚 It comes with training projects and materials that guide you through CNC step by step. Fear disappears, and the logic behind the process becomes clear ✅ Key specifications of Carvera Air: Work area: 30 × 20 × 13 cm (X/Y/Z), optional 4th axis: diameter 9.2 cm × 20 cm 📏 Spindle: 200 W, up to 13,000 RPM, quick tool change 🔄 Precision: runout less than 0.01 mm, positioning resolution about 0.01 mm, ball-screw drives with linear guides 📐 Materials: wood, plastic, light metals such as aluminum, brass, copper 🪵⚙️ Expandability: 5 W laser, 4th axis ✨ Software: Makera CAM, compatible with Fusion 360, SolidWorks, AutoCAD 💻 My learning process: The hardest part for me was understanding the full chain from 3D model to finished part: Creating the 3D model 🖥️ Importing it into Makera CAM Selecting the correct tools 🔧 Setting feeds, depths, and machining strategies ⚙️ At first, it all felt overwhelming 😅. But with Makera Wiki, tutorial videos, and support from the Makera team, I realized the key is not just copying settings — it’s understanding why they are used 💡. Of course, I ran into some issues: at one point the preview didn’t show the correct result ❌. After contacting Makera support, I realized I was using the wrong tool. Once I switched to the correct end mills and adjusted the settings, everything worked perfectly ✅ What I achieved with Carvera Air: Manufacture restoration parts that are virtually indistinguishable from originals 🛠️ Complete projects that were previously impossible 🚫 Explore new restoration ideas 💡 Create my own lighters from scratch 🕯️ In this video, I show: Whether it’s really possible to use CNC with no prior experience 👶 How Carvera Air works for restoration 🛠️ The challenges beginners may face ⚠️ Why CNC machining is far more accessible than it seems ✨ Makera YouTube channel: / @makera Watch my vintage lighter restorations: • Incredible Restoration of a Rare Vintage L...
