Lingthem is one of the hamlet of Upper Dzongu, North Sikkim (India). The place is known for beautiful landscape and hosts many tourist annually. Renowned anthropologist like Geoffrey Edward Solomon Gorer, AR Forning etc. had stayed in this place and wrote about Lepchas, their culture & tradition. Lingthem is one the few places in Sikkim where people still communicate in their native language (LEPCHA) which is declared as an endangered language by UNESCO. The place is also known for its community tourism and have numerous homestays manned by the local. Rice is the staple diet for the people living in this place and hence the locals focus more on paddy cultivation. But unfortunately native grains (rice) have been replaced by the imported grains in due course of time. #saveteesta #stopstageiv #savedzongu #saveindigenouspeople
