We explore the Northern State Hospital (formerly the Northern State Asylum) farm grounds which was used for occupational therapy for the mental patients. Check out our updated video that explores the actual Northern State Mental Hospital grounds (known as the Swift Center) here - • Abandoned Mental Hospital Exploration - No... Established in 1909, it was once the largest facility for mentally ill people in Washington State. Northern State’s grand opening in the Sedro-Wooley area of Washington State was in 1912. This hospital was self-sustaining and the patients were able to provide for themselves and even export food. Part of the classic Jack Nicholson movie "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" was filmed here. *If you visit here, please be very careful if you choose to explore as these are buildings in serious disrepair.
