Cinematography Masterclass L2S2 Different Types of Lenses

Hello friends Welcome back to a new lesson Today we learn about different types of lenses There are primarily 3 types of lenses Prime Lens Zoom or Focal lens And Cine or cinema lens And then you have hundreds or categories under them. A prime lens has a fixed focal length, and you can't zoom in, If you need to zoom in, you must physically get closer to the subject. Prime lenses are small and compact because they don’t have a zoom feature so the lens would be small, and it is easy to carry and take stable images. Prime lenses have a wider aperture means the minimum f-stop value such as 1.4 or even 1.2 Prime lenses are also helpful in low light conditions because they have a wider aperture, it lets more light in when the shutter opens, resulting in better exposure even in less light. Prime lenses give the best shallow depth of field and why is that? Yes, because it has a low aperture value, We know the low aperture value gives a shallower depth of field. My personal favorite is the prime lens for several reasons, In the demonstration section, you will witness the difference in quality in all lenses. The best use of the zoom lens is that you don’t have to change the lens and with a single lens you can focus on different objects in the scene. Unlike prime lenses where you physically move, with zoom lenses, you can adjust focus from nearby to objects which are far away. This is the advantage and the primary use of the zoom camera. It depends on your requirement, you may have to shift focus in your shot without a cut, so you should use a zoom lens, but you must have a command on the focus pull to get the best results, we will cover the focus techniques in the course. then we have Cinema Cameras They are packed with all features except in most cameras, you don’t find autofocus. Cine lenses have everything at its best, The best aperture values The best zooms The best sensors Here you see, this camera is remotely controlled, the focus, pan and slide, everything is managed from a distance. The cinema lenses are designed for managing remotely from a distance. These are beautifully crafted machines and you will feel amazing when we get up and close to them in the demonstration section. That was all in the lens types section, I broadly divide the lenses into 3 categories, prime, zoom, and cinema Now we will learn about different varieties of lenses I’ll see you tomorrow in a new lesson Till then, good luck and have fun
