The Cruise Port and center was opened by Carnival Corporation in 2006, the Grand Turk Cruise Center serves as a gateway to this unique destination of the Turks and Caicos Islands and has a state-of-the-art pier on a 14-acre complex offering a variety of shops and restaurants. The Splashdown display at the Grand Turk Cruise Center features an astronaut wearing a spacesuit and parachute as it guides a space capsule into the sea from its final descent of 21,000 feet. The Splashdown display in Grand Turk celebrates John Glen’s 1962 historic landing, as he entered the Atlantic near Grand Turk.
