On November 17, 2024, a suspect was observed by a Toledo Police officer firing a rifle into a bar in the 1700 block of Arlington. The officer fired at the suspect who fled, but was later located and arrested. No one was injured during the incident. At approximately 1:19 am, officers responded to the area of Geneva and Arlington to the reports of shots being fired. Officers responded to the area, but did not locate a shooting scene at that time. About an hour later, an officer who remained in the area, observed the suspect, Michael Thomas age 40, approach Crox Bar with a rifle, and begin firing into the bar. That officer then fired at Mr. Thomas. Mr. Thomas was not struck, and fled the scene in a vehicle. Officers later located Mr. Thomas and took him into custody. No one was injured during the incident. Mr. Thomas was booked into the Lucas County Jail for two counts of Felonious Assault. The Toledo Police officer who fired his weapon will be placed on paid Administrative Leave per collective bargaining agreements.
