Has your mind ever wondered what The Chosen score would be if Matt Nelson and Dan Haseltine were not the composers ? 😱😱 What if Dan stuck to his initial response to Dallas’ ask? “No.”😬 Praise God that the “chosen” composers listened to that calling and both said “yes” to The Chosen. It would be hard to imagine The Chosen with different music, for those of us who absolutely love the score. Although some FB critics have offered their suggestions of scoring some scenes with popular songs. Some have reached out to offer their own songs, and some have suggested a bigger orchestral sound they hear in the Hollywood blockbusters. But most of us know the absolute gift of what we actually have, and understand how it so perfectly supports each scene. Still, can you imagine, “what if”? At the Gulf Breeze United Methodist Church, “An Evening with The Chosen Composers,” we get a little taste of what different composers might do. A fun imagining. And then a very sweet acoustic gift from our brilliant ones, as we breathe a sigh of relief they are still “ours,” and that they will compose each scene with such thoughtfulness and deep creativity. Then, Dallas Jenkins joins via video, calling Matt and Dan, the “secret weapons of his show. Their intuition and willingness to take risks are why the score is such a brilliant supplement to the deeper truths that are written and portrayed. Enjoy this first 10 minute segment of a fantastic show. Matt and Dan obviously love what they do, and bring their all. The music is a most beautiful character, with Ruby Amanfu’s vocalizations, and Steven Williamson’s mixing. What a team!
