It's Hard Being Creator's Favorite: Comedy Writing with Shy Sapp This week SWG brings actor and stand-up comedian, Cheyenna Sapp! In this storytelling adventure, you get to hear the ‘behind-the-scenes’ look at how Nehiyaw Iskwew comedian Cheyenna "Shy" Sapp turns lived experience into comedy ‘ferda’ people. From rez life to real pain she’ll share how humour heals, jokes land, and why laughter might just be the best medicine we’ve got. Presenter Cheyenna “Shy” Sapp, she/her, nehiyaw iskwew, and your friendly neighborhood aunty, is from Little Pine First Nation in Treaty 6 Territory. Armed with a Bachelor’s Degree in Indigenous Studies and a Certificate in wicehotowin Indigenous Theatre, Shy is an actor and standup comedian by day, and an advocate for Indigenous Representation by night. And also by day. All the time, actually. When she’s not touring her standup comedy act, you can catch her on the hit sitcom Acting Good on CTV Comedy Channel and streaming on Crave. Host Julianna McLean is a nehiyaw Hungarian writer from James Smith Cree Nation. With the support of the Arts and Science Indigenous Masters Students Scholarships, Julianna obtained her MFA in writing from the University of Saskatchewan; she also has a background in Indigenous Education and Kinesiology. Julianna’s MFA thesis is a compilation of short stories and poetry that focus on her grandparents and mother’s residential / day school experiences, and Julianna’s intergenerational survivor story. Julianna has poetry published in anthology Where I’m from 2014
