Two Ways to Live | Philippians

In Philippians 3:12–21, the Apostle Paul paints two portraits of the human life. One life presses forward toward Christ with humility, perseverance, and hope. The other drifts toward earthly desires, living for appetite, comfort, and self. Though both lives may exist in the same world, even in the same church, their direction and destination could not be more different. In this message, we explore what true Christian maturity looks like: being honest about where we are, unburdened by the past, and focused on the prize of knowing Christ. Paul also warns us to pay attention to who we follow, because the examples we imitate shape the trajectory of our lives. Ultimately, the difference between these two portraits is not just behavior; it’s belonging. Followers of Jesus live as citizens of heaven, representing a different kingdom while we await our returning King. This sermon invites us to ask an honest question: What portrait is my life becoming?
