Rappelling Commonwealth Couloir with skis on our backs

In today's bright idea me reid and brandon skied the notorious commonwealth couloir on commonwealth peak in Kananaskis country, Alberta Canada. This line is balls to the wall and we were gripped from pretty much 9am to 3pm. The approach alone features exposed mixed climbing and ridge walking, with 55 degree sustained steeps over cliffs as your reward. Due to the snow year, we had to cook up 4 rappels, with only one bolted station. We did not take our time but with digging T slots and rigging raps we spent 5 hours committed in the guts of it. We are normal people and not particularly groundbreaking steep skiiers. The skiing ain't pretty, but heck if I ain't proud of every time I swung my skis 180 in this thing. If you manage the approach, look down the belly of this beast and still want to start digging 2x4s into the snow and get after it, I got respect.
