Huibin Hong (1494-1581) was the Royal Noble Consort of King Jungjong, the 11th king of the Joseon Dynasty. She was the daughter of Hong Gyeongju, a merit subject who contributed to the Jungjong Coup. After Queen Dankyung, the queen of King Jungjong, was deposed, Huibin was politically chosen as a concubine to guarantee the status of merit subjects. She was loved by King Jungjong and gave birth to five princes. And also, she became the senior 2nd rank Soui, junior 1st rank Gwiin, and even the senior 1st rank Bin, which was the most senior rank for concubines. Huibin Hong was so politically inclined that she supported for her father's power for her family, and she even informed her father of the royal family's secret events, so that he could prepare for them in advance. In particular, with her father, who was the Hungu faction, she took the lead in eliminating the Sarim faction, which was emerging in politics. After King Jungjong died, in 1545 (1st year of King Injong's reign), her son, Bongsung-gun, was severely impeached by the ministers for his involvement in a rebellion. Although it was not allowed, thanks to the favor of the previous king, this made her leave the palace. She died lonely in Sagi on November 6, 1581 (the 14th year of King Seonjo's reign). #History #AnnalsofJoseonDynasty #Concubine
