I have also written an accompanying blog post about this topic, for those of you, who enjoy more structured thoughts: https://www.venelestis.com/post/divin... For the purposes of this video, I would like you to think of #divination using #tarot and #oracle cards as communication. If you think of it as communication, you’ll realize it’s a dialogue: it’s a form of using a language to transmit information from one side to the other. Your goal as a diviner is to ask a question and receive an answer in a way that you understand. When you pick up the cards, you set an intention to receive a message that you can comprehend. In this approach, the spread, whether from the deck itself, or from a spirit, or nature, or the universe, will give you an answer in symbols or language that you understand in the moment. The reason why I’m talking about this is because, as you might know, I am a creator of oracle decks. I have consciously decided not to include any little white books, any meanings, or guidance on how to work with them. The reason for this is that many oracle and tarot decks impose their meanings. They add authorial intent and muddy the waters. By providing fixed interpretations, they give you language that might not be yours, and they create a burden where you feel you must learn these meanings to do it correctly. When I created my decks, I stepped away from that. I don’t want to burden the user with predefined meanings. Instead, I want you as a practitioner to create and use your own language with the tool. If you wish, you can later expand your vocabulary by exploring archetypal symbols or cultural meanings, but these should be expansions, not the foundation. Thank you for watching my video and for any and all feedback, suggestions for topics to cover next. I hope you enjoy!
