Hi everyone, welcome back to the interesting world of elephants. Would you like to take a tour of one of the most unbelievable and unique traits of these wild elephants? Then hang on till the end as this would be a useful addition of data to your scrapbook. Let’s roam around the forest, This is an angry bull elephant who is in its musth season. This elephant acts in an aggressive manner towards another elephant. Keep watching as this fight advances to a dangerous battle. What is musth? Musth is a fully natural phenomenon observed in healthy adult bull elephants, including tuskers and male which are tuskless bulls. Musth is characterized by the production of a hormone-rich substance known as temporin from the temporal gland on either side of the elephant's head and a continual trickle of urine down the elephant's back legs. It also entails an increase in the elephant's reproductive hormones. This makes the animal feel restless, energetic, aggressive, or unpredictable, as well as irritable and overly sensitive to sounds and movements. Musth has been found in healthy adult bull elephants. Now how long does musth last? Is the length and duration of the musth symbolic of health? Musth is a natural and healthy behavior in grown-up bull elephants. If a bull elephant goes into musth, it is generally regarded as a sign of health. Musth normally lasts 2-3 months and is divided into three stages: a 3-4 week premusth state, a 4-5 week peak musth, and a 4-5 week post-musth condition. After some time of action, one elephant rushes into the water and acts differently. And even the herd members make sure they maintain their distance from these dangerous elephants. And these aggressive fights are not just limited to one day, but they fight until their victory. Causing death or severe wounds for one elephant. As you can see, the two bull elephants in the two herds have a strong anger within them. As if they had something in common to share between them. Actually this a rare and amazing occurrence of nature. Elephants, an amazing creation of nature, go through this cycle of life. Yet this could be an occurrence that you have never seen before. The wildlife conservation officials have been in a look at the elephant herd and this was an unexpected incident that was in one of our cameras. Now that navigates us to another question. Does an elephant smell different in musth? Does it smell to anyone else besides a female elephant? Musth fluid/secretion, also known as temporin, has a characteristic sharp odor that humans can detect. Female elephants, on the other hand, find it easier to smell temporin and utilize it to judge the maturity and condition of the male, because an elephant's sense of smell is far more developed than that of a human being. As we said earlier, these fights could go on until one elephant reaches its death. So make sure you keep your distance if you meet an elephant in its musth period in the wild. These officials who captured this incident on camera are experts in the field of wildlife care and they are experienced and trained to face any dangerous situation, so it is advisable not to interact with such aggressive elephants if you come across them. Elephants frequently engage in violent battles as they vie for dominance and mating rights. These bouts may be rather dramatic, with elephants utilizing their tusks and pure strength to exert dominance over their opponents. The musth season is critical for the social structure of elephant herds because it often determines which males will be able to mate with females. Observing these encounters provides important information about elephant behavior and social structures. Now that brings us to the end of this mission to discover the massive world of wildlife.
