They were taught not only to look to the pope as their mediator, but to trust their own works in order to atone for their sins. Like the Pharisees of old, the papist leaders hated the light which would reveal their sins. …for centuries Europe had made no progress in learning, arts, or civilization. A moral and intellectual paralysis had fallen on Christendom with no progress in learning, arts, or civilization. __________________________________________________________________________________________ Claim: Papist priest pretended, by their senseless mummery, to convert the simple Bread and Wine into the actual body and blood of Christ. With Blasphemous presumption, they openly claim of creating God, the creator of all things.
