Fitzroy and Brunswick Street (not to be confused with Brunswick, the surburb in a completely different location) are peas in a pod, representing the best of culture, music and street art. The buildings in this area are an amazing representation of Victoria era architecture and much of it is actually protected by heritage overlays. Being so close to the city, this area is for the truly hipster and rich. That's a far cry from 30 years ago, when the area was considered working class and dodgy. Gentrification has certainly removed that image from the area, now being a desirable place to live.
