Half pans are a bit tricky to buy online or hard to find in stores. So this is my own take on how to make your own half pans at home. Instructions: What you will need: unused/ expired cards (i.e gym membership/ medical/ arcade cards) cutter & scissors mechanical pencil ruler super glue Extra things: magnetic strip tin box (i.e altoids/candy tin) 1. Peel off the plastic cover of both sides of your old card (some don’t have this) and cut off the shortest parts to remove the curved corners. You would want only straight edges to remain. I cut off 2mm per end to do this. 2. Using your ruler and mechanical pencil, trace the measurements of all the sides of the half pan on your card. The measurements can be downloaded here: / kat.gosiengf. . 3. Using your ruler as a guide, use the cutter to fully cut the shapes off piece-by-piece or you can just slide your cutter on top of the lines to make ridges and use scissors to cut them entirely. 4. Once all sides are cut to size, use super glue to stick everything together. Make sure all sides are sitting on top of the bottom rectangle. Glue pieces together patiently and carefully as to avoid getting glue on your fingers. Let each newly glued piece set-in and help it attach firmly by putting pressure. 5. When you have glued everything together, you can add reinforcement by adding glue to where pieces meet. Make sure everything is sealed. 6. You’ve just made your half pan! Fill it in with paint from tubes or pan paints! Make sure to squeeze paint in the four corners to fill your DIY half pan to avoid air pockets inside. 7. You may glue 2mm by 1cm strips of magnet under the half pan so that it sticks to your tin box and it doesn’t wiggle off when you carry it around. *If you're more OC about this you can even use sandpaper to smoothen out edges of each shape/ piece before gluing it all together.
