Now, this city counts over 200 000 inhabitants and is often seen as a transport hub with great ferry, bus, air and even train links. If you travel through Croatia, you will end up in Split on some point of your journey, for sure. In this case be sure to see the old town around the Diocletian´s palace, climb up on the top of the bell tower of St. Dominus Cathedral and explore the inside of this old church, make a stop at the Croatian National Theatre and the Ivan Mestrovic Gallery, enjoy the panoramic view over old town Split from Marjan hill, take a walk at the Riva and explore the harbour, the Grgur Ninski statue at the Golden Gate of the old town is also worth a visit and a lot more.
