Axial Base Camp + Chopped Pro Line FJ40 Landcruiser Body = Win Win!

A marriage made in heaven and all it took was a nose job. #axialscx10iii #basecamp #prolineracing When I bought the Pro Line FJ40 body last decade, my intention was to chop the cargo box (aka bob the body) taking the wheelbase down from 325mm to 313 so it would fit my SSD Trail King slider. But...a) I got the sweats thinking about cutting brand new, discontinued, hard-to-find Lexan, and b) I realized that I already owned a Red Cat Gen 8 PACK that can be stretched to 325 in two minutes with no additional parts. Guess which route I chose. Fast forward a few good years and the creeky, slippy, floppy, Red Cat chassis needs a major overhaul I am not motivated to undertake. Plus, I have a newly completed Axial Base Camp Builders Kit looking for a body. And that Lexan body I was afraid to cut isn't so precious anymore. Before taking out the tenth-scale torch, I carefully studied prototype photos on the web and created an overlay of the model in Photoshop. When I digitally shortened the hood I literally went, "WOW, that's how to do it."  Plus, it always struck me that Pro Line made the nose too long. I wound up taking out more like 18mm, and I am liking/loving the way it turned out. This body, combined with the stellar Axial SCX10iii straight axle platform is a marriage made in heaven. So fun to drive, capable, and looks great. The big cosmetic surgery reveal was shot at beautiful Glenorchy Conservation Area in Southern Ontario Canada.
