With the growing communist threat in east Asia, that national police force grew into Japanese Self Defence Force (JSDF), an entity designed solely for protection of Japanese territory. It didn't take long for JSDF to start growing both in size and influence and slowly, but surely, become one of the top 10 strongest military forces in the world.
