The chicks hatched on May 6th an May 7th Timeline: May 10th: Unfortunately, two chicks died just three days after hatching, probably because they were weaker than the others as they hatched later. May 12th: Sadly, a third one didn't make it either. May 18th: Two more passed away. They were smaller than the others. For some reason, the mother only gave the biggest food. Now there are only three left. The mother brought out most of the deceased chicks herself. I had to remove one dead chick from the nest as the mother had not removed it for over a day. Unfortunately, it is not unusual for so many chicks to die in the nest. According to studies around 20% - 60% of the brood die in the nest.
