On our way to summit a mountain, I stopped to catch my breath as we had just finished a steep section. As I looked up, breathing in, Jen said, "Oh my god!" She was right behind me and I immediately looked down thinking that there was a rattlesnake at my feet. Instead, it was a beautiful fully intact projectile point. Right in front of where I stopped! Incredible! I researched the point and think I may have identified it, some information as follows: A Northern Side-notched projectile point is a type of stone artifact used for hunting and other tasks, widely distributed in the western United States during the Early Archaic period, specifically between approximately 8000 and 6000 years Before Present (B.P.).
