S. 1207 the "Navajo Utah Water Rights Settlement Act of 2019” will settle a negotiation over water rights between the federal government and the Navajo Nation that has been in the works for decades. The bill has passed the Senate but has not been taken up by the House. On the ground, people of the Navajo Nation are without water while the bill sits in limbo waiting on the House of Representatives. The Bill provides water rights to 81,500 acre feet of water to the Navajo Nation in Utah and funding for infrastructure for water. About half of the people living on the reservation lack access to running water. We experienced this first-hand as we toured Piute Mesa where crews were working to get a well operational again. Guests this week: Willie Grayeyes, San Juan County Commissioner and Member of the Navajo Nation Kaitlin Harris, an Engineer with DigDeep.org Senator Mitt Romney, U.S. Senator for UTAH SUBSCRIBE to The County Seat: https://www.youtube.com/thecountyseat... The County Seat is designed to provide the essentials to being an informed and engaged citizens in what we view as the most important level of government to daily life, county government. Topics range from the life of a ballot to the wild horses on public lands. The majority of Utah's 29 counties are rural with a concentration of urban issues along the Wasatch Front. This dynamic lends an interesting twist to the show where we highlight a number of rural issues that the majority of Utahns may not be as familiar with. #CountiesMatter #CoutySeatS10E45 For more information about Counties and County Government go to: http://www.countiesmatter.com To sign up to get interesting news and updates delivered to your inbox click here: https://cbco.kartra.com/page/jaz10
