Beauty of D. Ering Wildlife Sanctuary: performing of traditional rituals to appease natural forces

In order to keep the sanctuary safe and secure from illegal hunting & poaching and for the wellbeing of field patrolling staffs, a traditional ritual was conducted with a sacrifice of Pig and a Chicken. Such traditional rituals of Adi community of Arunachal Pradesh which is locally called 'Koson' is usually conducted by men folks to appease the natural forces/nature God for safety and wellbeing of men going into deep jungle and carrying out activities in jungle. The patrolling staffs of D. Ering Memorial Wildlife Sanctuary also routinely conducts such rituals in order to appease the natural forces of the sanctuary to get their blessings and supports to protect the sanctuary from hunters and poachers. The rituals were conducted on Sunday 1st August 2021 outside the sanctuary on the bank of River Siang opposite the Borguli Wildlife Range.
