We Will Design 2025: Making Kin

Building meaningful connections between humans, non-humans, and more-than-humans — Design Week 2025 at BASE was all about Making Kin. From April 7 to 13, BASE Milano welcomed a temporary community of designers, architects, and artists to explore new forms of kinship. The projects of Design Week 2025 reimagined relationships beyond traditional bonds, proposing new forms of connection and affinity — grounded in conscious choices and shared values. Through a monumental site-specific installation, a 4,000 sqm exhibition featuring projects from academies, universities, design studios, and emerging talents; five international residency programs; a rooftop campsite; a Public Program spanning visual arts, architecture, poetry, and science; and two nights of sonic exploration where clubbing met electronic subcultures — BASE redefined our relationship with space, time, and community. Two weeks of ideas, encounters, and radical togetherness — for a growing community ready to imagine what design can do for the society we live in. Thank you to all designers, musicians, universities, collectives, residents, speakers and guests who nourished this space, making it open to unexpected encounters and new forms of alliance.
